Job Summary

The Department of Psychology at Columbus State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position with specialization in an area of applied psychology. Potential specializations include clinical, counseling, forensic / legal, health, and organizational psychology. The position will begin August, 2018.

Duties and Responsibilities

Candidates must demonstrate potential for effective teaching of university level courses with high academic standards. Teaching responsibilities include upper-level courses in the applicant’s areas of specialization, research methods / analysis w/lab, and general psychology. Summer teaching opportunities are possible. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active research program mentoring undergraduate students and leading to publications in peer-reviewed journals. Other responsibilities include assisting with academic advising and contributing to the service needs of the department, college, and university. Laboratory space is available including individual and group testing rooms, survey administration, psycho-physiological recording, and a collection of psychometric instruments. The successful candidate will join a team of colleagues with specializations in behavior analysis, biological, cognitive, developmental, and social psychology. Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must possess a Doctorate from a Psychology program with specialization in an area of applied psychology. Experience teaching psychology at the undergraduate level is desired. The successful candidate will use active learning strategies which increase student engagement in the learning process. We are seeking applicants with a PhD at time of appointment and demonstrated teaching and research skills.
